the Hawaiian monk seals to dolphins to moray eels slithering in and out of the coral reef. In 2002, Poulain developed Ocean Arts Hawaii on a bit of whim. “I had hopes of utilizing photography as a vehicle to express my visions of the underwater world and ocean life off the shores of Hawai‘i.” And in that he has succeeded. His photography can be seen in several ongoing art shows and local fund raising events throughout the island of Oahu.
“I certainly had no expectations of seeing the business or my work cultivate into what it is today.”
Ocean Arts Hawai‘i is responsible for many of the ocean images you see in Waikiki. The newest project is at the Outrigger Reef Hotel in Waikiki, next to the Halekulani Hotel and just across from the future Trump Tower. “We were asked to provide a variety of reef style images that would fit in with the hotel’s new visionary concept and remodeling.” “The newly designed rooms are beautiful.”
Of course you don’t have to head into Waikiki to view Poulain’s work. Simply browse the links above or go to www.oceanartshawaii.com for a look at more of his breathtaking underwater images.
